At Inbound, we recognise the importance separating online advertising into three core campaign strategies:

Display campaigns. Display advertisements target customers based on their existing online behaviour such as where they go online, their favourite sites and internet services they use. These may be on a cost-per-click or cost-per-display model.

Social networking sites (such as Facebook) and professional networking sites (such as LinkedIn) provide more than a platform for online customer engagement and the sharing of information. They also provide enhanced online advertising platforms that offer businesses the opportunity to identify and target key customer segments using highly relevant and targeted advertising. Social network ads may be on a cost-per-click or cost-per-display model.
